      It is a matter of immense pleasure for me to be a part of the Guru Nanak Dev University family as its Vice Chancellor. I take this opportunity of welcoming students coming from different sections of society, joining the the department of Lifelong Learning in the university for skill development diploma and certificate courses. In terms of credentials, the university has a long history of achievements. The most recent has been the status of “University with Potential for Excellence” by UGC and accredited with “A++” grade (highest level as per modified criteria) by NAAC. Being in the forefront of innovation, invention and novelty, a home to transformational research and enthused learning, the University has also earned “Category One” status, and has become the only University to receive this elite status in the region of Punjab and Chandigarh.
The department of Lifelong Learning, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar continues to play an important role in imparting the students with necessary skills and professional development to excel themselves in corporate sector as well as entrepreneurship ventures. A large number of seminars and workshops are organized by the department.         The Department of Lifelong Learning was established in 1985 with a thrust on poverty alleviation,equal status to women and self employment plans,co-ordinates and implements the programmes for the benefit of society under the non-formal system of education.The department has been serving the weaker sections of the society in the remote areas by the way of providing vocational education to the youth enabling them to be financially independent has been carrying out the various outreach activities. Educational institutions all around the world along with the aspirations of students and parents have undergone critical transformations with time. At our Department we aspire to provide top quality education to all, with a well-balanced and relevant curriculum.We believe that true education is a right blend of Intelligence and character, we educate our students to maximize their innate potential along with positive social behavior, thus developing them as global citizens.THE DEPARTMENT HAS HIGHLY SKILLED FACULTY IN THEIR RESPECTIVE FIELDS OF EXPERTISE.

To spread the message against the various social evils like Drug Addiction, Dowry, AIDS, Female Foeticides, etc. through various means such as Seminars /Workshop/ Rallies etc.
