eDOPS

eDOPS is an electronic Database Of PlantS developed by a dynamic team of researchers at Department of Botanical and Environmental Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. The mission is to develop, maintain and continuously update the database of plants of Punjab, India. We aim to compile information about different plants of Punjab and store in an electronic database in such a manner so as to allow easy and efficient retrieval. This database covers three sub databases; eDOTS (electronic Database Of Trees and Shrubs), eDOHP (An electronic Database Of Herbaceous Plants), and eGNDUH (electronic Guru Nanak Dev University Herbarium). The Database will serve the purpose of storing, organizing and providing the efficient retrieval of information of all plants (Native as well as Naturalized) of Punjab. This database will serve the dual purpose of providing data cum multimedia information of each plant species. The Focus of the database is to provide information about Botanical name, Popular/Common name, Family name, Flowering time, Fruiting time, Distribution, Economic importance, Morphological description and photographs of different views/parts of each plant. The database can be searched using different search options- plant wise and family wise. To begin with we have compiled information of most of the plants of Amritsar city.
